Power Boat Overview

Power Boats are operated by a motorized engine. Typical engine types found on a power boat include an Inboard/Outboard, Inboard, Outboard, or Surface Drive engine and the engines are powered by either gasoline or diesel fuel. Personal Watercrafts (PWCs) are powered by an inboard engine that drives a pump jet and impeller to create thrust and propel and steer the PWC. There are a two main styles of PWC; a sit down style PWC where as the name implies, you sit on a seat, and a stand-up PWC where you can either stand or kneel. Stand-up style PWCs are more typically used for racing and tricks and typically accomodate 1 rider. Sit down style PWCs can come in a variety of setups and are often found in either one-seater, two-seater, three-seater and four-seater versions. Many people recognize PWCs using their trademarked name Jet-Ski, which is actually the brand name of a particular type of PWC manufactured by Kawasaki. Other common brand names of PWCs include Yamaha Waverunners and Sea-Doo (Bombardier) and Honda Aquatrax.
